This wine, which is a lovely sparkling wine, comes from the Alsace region in north-east France. Cradled between the Vosges Mountains and the Rhine River, and bordering Germany, this beautiful region is the home of several noteworthy wines alongside jaw-dropping architecture.

Cremant d’Alsace is a defined appellation within Alsace that is specifically permitted to make only sparkling wine. Made in the same way that Champagne is, but (generally speaking) with different grapes, these sparkling wines are easy to drink, fun, and the perfect aperitif. Some are wonderful with food too.

Cremant d’Alsace represents incredible value for your dollar and you should definitely have a few on hand at all times to celebrate with. Here’s an example that I’d definitely be recommending you add to that collection if you can!

A bit about the Domaine

I don’t usually go very deep on the winemakers and/or estates behind the wines in these wine tasting notes blog poses but in this case, I want to provide you with just a little bit of information because I think it’ll add to your enjoyment of this wine.

Domaine Allimant-Laugner is a small family estate located in the lower part of the Alsace wine region and is backed by multiple generations of winemaking experience. Born from the marriage of two Alsatian families with a long history of growing and cultivating vines, the winemaking is in the hands of the young and dynamic son of the owners at this stage. Much has been written about the wonderful wines of this estate, which span a full complement, as well as the talented vigneron and winemaker.

My Tasting Notes

This sparkling wine is a gorgeous golden colour and it has a fine and persistent bead that is sure to delight. On the nose, the wine displays pretty floral, pear and light citrus notes. On the palate, however, is where this wine truly shines. It is light and ethereal, with pear, lime, light toast, nutty and almond notes. This is a wine with a beautiful long and zesty finish.

Drink and enjoy this wine now! It is really perfect for any occasion.

Wine it up a notch by pairing this wine with a lovely warm evening, with appetizers, seafood, or Asian food.

Cheers, Friends!
